• As part of Animal & Plant Health Directorate and plant health system, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and review of technical requirements and export assurance programmes for New Zealand's forestry, seed, horticultural and plant products, and contributing to the negotiation of market access requirements.
• You will have an opportunity to apply your technical expertise in plant protection and risk management alongside your knowledge of stakeholder engagement and project management.

You will use your biological science training (or related discipline) or work experience operating in a regulatory environment.  You will also be able to demonstrate the practical application of:

• Managing competing priorities in the work plan
• Providing technical information for bilateral discussions
• Knowing/understanding biological and crop production systems
• Problem solving and a ‘can do' attitude

Animal and Plant Health covers all the activities that contribute to reducing the likelihood that harmful pests and diseases will arrive at our border, as well as supporting the assurances for our plant produce exported overseas.

The work we do facilitates the export of New Zealand's primary plant products to ensure products comply with overseas country's requirements reduces the risk before produce leaves New Zealand. Producers and exporters all take action to comply with the requirements specified by our trading partners.
