Jirsch Reilly Tang Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team.

 Background

It is expected that the Senior has, as a minimum:

  • a Bachelor’s commercial degree, preferably majoring in accounting and has studied revenue law.
  • 2-3 years prior experience working in public accounting, working in accounting and tax
  • Sound knowledge of popular accounting software products, such as MYOB and Xero
  • The skill to produce accurate monthly management reports to a deadline
  • High French language skills, both written and spoken, in the area of finance, accounting and tax.

  • Ability to quickly understand tax and other aspects of our client’s business they work on
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Good communications- both verbal and written
  • Speak French at a business level

 

Job Functions

The Senior will be expected to:

  1. Work independently to, after an initial phase in period, communicate with clients regarding routine compliance matters – e.g. seek information to prepare Activity Statements and income tax returns.
  2. Be able to produce accurate financial statements using a number of different accounting packages including MYOB AO, MYOB AccountRight, Xero
  3. Navigate around our MYOB AO data base, accounting, depreciation & tax software.
  4. Accurately record time spent on jobs by directly entering time spent into our timesheet system.
  5. Prepare covering letters and emails sending to clients such things as tax returns, Notices of Assessments, IAS’s, BAS’s.
  6. Navigate the Tax Agents’ ATO portal to obtain important tax information, lodge Activity Statements
  7. Prepare and record excel spreadsheets on behalf of our clients
  8. Reconcile GST asset and liability accounts
  9. Prepare and collate “working papers” in readiness for partners’ or manager’s review.
  10. Prepare income tax returns for an individual, trust, partnership and company
  11. Be able to draft tax invoices for work done for a client.
  12. Be able to delegate to, and supervise, junior staff
  13. Be have sufficient tax knowledge to assist more junior staff and give phone advice to clients and prepare written advice for them, on most tax and compliance issues.
  14. Be able to work with payroll software and understand and advise on, employer payroll obligations.

It is expected that continuing professional reading and study be undertaken outside office hours.
