What we need

You will be joining a supportive and professional team of dedicated security officers who work via a rotating roster (including night shifts) 24/7, 365 days a year.

• An individual with prior security experience preferably in operational security;
• Someone used to shift work and who has a good work ethic combined with life skills;
• A good degree of physical fitness is required; and
• Technology plays a big part in what we do so it's important that you are comfortable using computers and are familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Who we are

The Directorate of Defence Security (DDS) comprises eight functional business units: counter intelligence, security compliance (including Defence Industry), security risk and assurance, security vetting and screening, security policy, security services, security education and training and the security guard force.

Each functional unit contributes a vital role to strengthen the NZDF's ability to secure its information, people, assets and reputation. DDS provides a sustainable and credible security organisation primarily focused on NZDF's domestic security environment through the provision of a wide range of protective security policies, services, products and advice.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

• most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
• is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
