Job Description
Oversight of the Royal Bank of Canada Money Market and Fixed Income Security Settlements team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Efficiently manage the daily settlements of domestic fixed income securities
Monitor work volumes and ensure staffing requirements to meet SLAs
Assist employees in setting priorities on issues/tasks to minimize risk and ensure deadlines are met
Daily review of failed trade reporting, cash and position reconciliations, segregation deficiency reports ensuring follow up on outstanding items
Assist Associate Director, Securities Settlements Canada on special projects
Ensure procedures (desk, process) are in place to meet client needs
Ensure current regulatory policies, procedures and Standing Orders are followed to mitigate risk
Conduct annual performance reviews with team members
Interview and select new team members
Updates CDSX custodian records for non-Money Market Issues
Sign off on the CDS Arrow Non MMkt (deposit and withdrawal) record to confirm evidence of review of the items being deposited or withdrawn. Record kept in day’s work
AUTHORITIES, IMPACT, RISK:
75% managing daily trade settlement activities and initiatives for
Canadian Fixed Income Operations
25% assisting with special projects, initiatives and development of
Staff
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Ability to manage people and process
Strong communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Understanding of all the different processing flows within the department
Understanding of how the processing flows within the department affect other departments and downstream systems
Extensive knowledge of Canadian Securities clearance
Extensive knowledge of internal systems including: Monaco, APEX, OPICS, RIMMS, ARROW, Note Issuance (NIS), ADP /BTS
Experience managing system conversions and integration
Experience participating in industry committees and working committees (CDS, BFS )
