Job Description

Why Microsoft: Microsoft Australia is on a mission to inspire people, innovate for growth and empower Australia. Elena Wise, Specialist Team Unit Lead, â€œI have never worked for a company where every employee is so deeply engaged with the company’s vision and purpose as they are at Microsoft. It provides the connective tissue across the company and informs everything that we do, and more importantly, how we do it. When asked for a word that describes their experience with Microsoft in our recent employee survey, the word “Proud” won out by a country mile.”

Being a Sales Specialist in the Data & AI team at Microsoft means so much more than selling products to enterprise clients; it means growing your career while surrounded by talented, supportive and inclusive leaders; it means being able to bring your whole self to work and thriving on your own terms.

With curiosity, a love for technology, and ability to inspire through the art of storytelling, Microsoft Sales Specialists help people around the world uncover the unknown potential of their organisation. They support the likes of global organisations and governments in their mission to make the world a better place and — alongside the whole Microsoft team — are ultimately shaping the future of technology.

Responsibilities

The purpose of this role

This is a role where you will be seen as a leader within our sales team, working with some of our most exciting Public Sector customers in Perth. Your role will be to lead a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting specialists to deliver successful outcomes for your customers. Here is an overview of how this role typically works:

  • 40% of your time will be spent with your customers understanding their organisation and priorities, and uncovering new opportunities that help them deliver results. To do this, you will also work with Microsoft partners, and build your own understanding of your customers, their industry and the market that will guide your discovery.
  • 40% of your time will be spent being the trusted advisor who will design solutions using Microsoft Data & AI technologies for your customers. This means you will lead presentations and solution demonstrations to show your customers the capabilities of Microsoft's Data & AI solutions, and how we can make their organisations more successful.
  • 10% of your time will be spent learning about technology and maintaining your technical, sales, and your professional skills. This includes gaining the Microsoft certifications that will help you be successful in this role.
  • 10% of your time will be spent on more internally focussed work, including managing your sales pipeline, helping others and being coached, and sharing your insights about how best we can improve our products and our go-to-market strategies.

You will be seen as a trusted advisor and a Data & AI subject matter expert. You will help your customers evaluate what their business requires and recommend solutions that meet their needs, and demonstrate these solutions to win their support.

Qualifications

What skills do you need to have?

We believe everyone has the potential to do great things, even if you don’t fit the “typical” mould of what success looks like (perhaps especially if you don’t fit the stereotype!). To succeed in this role, you need to share our value for our mission, culture, ethical sales, solving complex challenges and building sustainable partnerships with clients. Here are the types of experiences that would help you in this role:

  • Selling technology solutions to businesses and enterprises, with a focus on data, analytics and artificial intelligence
  • Territory and account management, including planning, uncovering and qualifying opportunity, managing and reporting sales pipeline
  • Presentation skills (and great story telling!), with experience selling to stakeholders at varying levels across your customers' organisation
  • Collaboration skills with sales teams and with partner organisations to deliver successful business outcomes for your customers

Experience with these technologies will help you in this role:

  • Cloud platform and cloud services
  • Data and analytics platforms, advanced analytics, and reporting and visualisation tools
  • Artificial intelligence concepts

Microsoft-specific concepts are taught and certifications are awarded as a part of our onboarding program.
