Te Puna Wai Ora (Southern Critical Care)
Dunedin Hospital
If you've discovered that you have a real affinity for critical care nursing, and you want to grow your career, you're in the right place!
You'll have heard all about Dunedin's new hospital, which is due to open in seven years. But you don't need to wait that long, because our new critical care unit, Te Puna Wai Ora, is in final development right now and about to open its doors.
Our team delivers long-term life support services to critically ill patients. We provide a tertiary referral service for other medical providers throughout Otago and Southland, as well as delivering the Aeromedical Retrieval Service to transport patients to other hospitals.
With 18 beds in a combined ICU / HDU, patients will be able to transition between levels of care without leaving the unit. It's as up-to-date as medical facilities get, with brand-new equipment, and with the patient-focussed design you'll be thrilled at the quality of care you can provide. It's a rare opportunity to be part of the journey towards Dunedin's new hospital.
In each shift you'll be responsible for the assessment, care and treatment of one patient, with autonomy in your scope of practice. You'll work with patients of all ages - from young children to geriatric - and their whanau, too.
With your solid base in critical care nursing, this is an ideal opportunity to step your career up a notch. Our close relationship with the University of Otago's Medical School means we can offer you considerable opportunities for professional development and career progression.
You'll be an adaptive, hardworking nurse who's empathetic and can quickly build a rapport with patients and their families. You'll treat everyone with kindness and respect, bring a positive attitude, and value openness and honesty. The great news is that's also how your colleagues work, so you'll be welcomed into a team with a fantastic workplace culture, and have the opportunity for working a family-friendly and life-friendly roster, so you'll have time for all the other things that matter to you!
Closing date: Open.
