Exciting private-sector opportunities for Registered Nurses!Agilus is recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the refinery industry in Gibbons, Alberta. This position will provide medical standby support and is responsible for delivering the highest quality of basic and advanced life support including, medical assessment, and treatment. The successful candidate will adhere to Work Safe Alberta legislation and professional association protocol in line with best practices. This is a Contract opportunity with a 6-7 month term. Accountabilities:

  • Provide advanced first aid/medical aid to employees including basic life support in medical emergencies.
  • Coordinate emergency response, treatment, and transport effectively and efficiently with industrial and municipal resources though an onsite escalation and consultation process with Medical Director.
  • Provide health assessments, treatment, and if required, the facilitation of medical referrals.
  • Responsible for education staff regarding COVID precaution.
  • Complete forms, documentation and reports as required by relevant workers’ compensation board and conduct any required follow-up.
  • Maintain records of accidents, illness and injuries including recommendations for measures to avoid illness and injuries.
  • Participate and plan safety orientation sessions, production health and safety meetings, emergency drills and scenarios.
  • Ensure privacy for patients and confidentiality of personal information and medical records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Registered Nurse Program recognized by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
  • Valid certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), ITLS (International Trauma Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • Valid WHMIS and CSTS Certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Nursing experience in construction/industrial industry preferred. Minimum of 3 years of ER/ICU nursing is preferred.
  • Competent understanding of Part 11: First Aid of the Alberta OH&S Code.
  • Prior working experience dealing with Drug and Alcohol Testing is considered an asset.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written in a multicultural environment.
