He angitūtanga: About the Role
As a Ranger, you will form part of the wider operations team delivering on our biodiversity, heritage and visitor, and community work programmes across the Waikato district.
Key pieces of work include:
- Weed Control
- Pest control (including pest fish)
- Species monitoring and management
- Ecosystem restoration
- Track and asset maintenance
- Community engagement
- Relationship management
He kÅrero mÅu: What we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a range of technical skills with a proactive attitude to bring to the team. You will be comfortable using safety and navigation equipment or can easily pick these up. Ideally you have practical field delivery experience.
Required:
- The ability to work in true partnership with others across DOC and external stakeholders including local whÄnau, hapÅ« and iwi
- Knowledge of one or more biodiversity areas such as; marine, freshwater, animal pest control, management of threatened species and/or statutory delegations
A full driver's license is essential, the following is advantageous:
- Four-wheel driving qualifications and off-road experience
- Growsafe & Approved Handler certifications
- Light Utility Vehicle (LUV) qualifications and experience
- Chainsaw qualifications and experience
- A current first aid certificate
