He angitūtanga: About the Role

Based in Twizel, you will contribute to specific projects related to land that has returned to Crown ownership through the tenure review process as well as specific projects surrounding infrastructure for visitors.

You will help deliver:

• All tasks and functions associated with heritage and visitor structures and maintenance. 
• Deliver scheduled work plans on time and to budget.
• Assist in wider Biodiversity Threats related tasks when required.

He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for

You will have a personable manner; you will be a natural leader of people and someone that has good negotiation skills.  You will be a self-starter with a natural drive to get things done.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has skills and/or experience in:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in chainsaw use with accompanying qualifications.
• A current full driver's licence.
• Experience operating 4WD vehicles & LUVs.
• Experience in budget & contractor management.  
• You must be able to work independently with nights away in the backcountry. 
• A current first aid certificate, weed control experience, fencing skills & basic carpentry are desirable.

The successful applicant must be willing to work outside of typical work hours when the weather allows, particularly during the busy season.  The role is based in Twizel and requires working remotely with the potential for overnights in backcountry huts. The role is physically demanding so a high level of fitness is required.
