An opportunity has arisen to join a leading NZ company working on large scale construction project in DUNEDIN

Your new role

The Quantity Surveyor is an essential role that ensures all financial dealings associated with the procurement and managing of contracts for the construction process are carried out in accordance with the program.

As the Quantity Surveyor you will be working in a collaborative team, working alongside the Project Manager for the successful delivery of projects within time and budget by reviewing, evaluating, implementing, overseeing all contract policies, procedures, processes and standards.

Your role and responsibilities will include (but not limited to ):

  • Coordinate and let contracts to subcontractors and suppliers to maintain the construction and resources schedule.
  • Assist in the administration of the subcontractors performance against the scope of works and construction program and control authorisation of variations, extensions of time and payments ensuring that subcontractor payment claims are assessed within the timeframes set out in legislative requirement
  • Ensure that supplier invoices are assessed and processed within the required timeframes.
  • Prepare and assist in the maintenance of cost control, forecast revisions and project financial reporting.
  • Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers within discipline(s) by review of tender design, preparation of scope and technical documentation, preparation of S/C tender list, management of tender process, vetting and recommending tenders, and engaging subcontractors.
  • Coordination of activities and tasks associated with the development of overall planning and programming.
  • Assist in the establishment and monitoring of the procurement program and off-site activity schedule
  • Assist with subcontract management and subcontract administration, including assistance in preparation of monthly final forecast cost estimates for trade packages

What you'll need to succeed

You will possess excellent time management and communication skills and be able to build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors while working with the various internal business units and people to deliver the customer's needs at the highest level. This role requires a commitment to providing outstanding quality and timely customer service.

  • Degree qualified in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Ideally 3-5 years' post grad experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience working on commercial construction projects
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand construction market and subcontractors
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
