About the Position

The School of Health Sciences  is seeking to appoint an experienced and high performing Project Support Officer. 

A collaborative team of WSU academic and professional staff from the School of Health Sciences, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Humanities and Communication Arts, Translational Health Research Institute, The Centre for Transforming Early Education and Child Health (TeEACH), The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development and the Rich Media team have partnered with  Western Sydney Local Health District’s Perinatal Child Youth Mental Health Service (PCYMHS) and a number of other government and community-based organisations to deliver a project funded by the Ministry of Health focusing on the Perinatal Mental Health and Wellbeing Program’s Emerging Priorities. The project is titled ‘Improving young mothers’ mental health literacy through the development of a digital learning resource co-designed with consumers and persons with lived experience’.

The Project Support Officer will coordinate the formal partnership between WSU and PCYMHS, as well as the partnership with all other government and community-based organisations involved in the project. They will undertake high level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and build collaborative working relationships with all involved parties.  The Project Support Officer will engage across all relevant sectors of the university and external networks to ensure effective and timely delivery of project outputs. They will assist with the development of a Critical Reference Group (CRG) comprising young mothers from different backgrounds, lived experience participants, key transcultural health experts, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island representatives (including maternal elders), and key clinical and non-clinical mental health staff.

The Project Support Officer will ensure that regular, ongoing communication is maintained with Consortium members (i.e. internal and external partners), with the Critical Reference Group and, where necessary, with the Ministry of Health.

Skills and Experiences

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated high level knowledge and understanding of project coordination skills including demonstrated ability to plan, implement, evaluate and disseminate a health promotion project and report on the outcomes of the project and experience in utilising design thinking and planning workshops and similar stakeholder engagement activities.

The position will be based at Campbelltown campus but may be required to travel to other campuses as well as to external agencies and networks.

It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW employee working with children clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 (pro-rata rates) $69,087 to $74,079 p.a. (comprising Salary of $58,379 to $62,598 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
