In partnership with Tait Communications, we are seeking engineering talent for a number of new positions in Project Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering and Test Engineering.

Tait Communications is a global leader in designing and delivering critical communications solutions which are the right fit for a variety of industries, including public safety agencies, government services, utilities, extractive industries, and urban transport providers.

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join our team, working on a projects to design and deliver a world-class, large-scale land mobile network solution for some of our customers. The role will be based in our Christchurch Head Office.

You will play a key part in the success of the programme, leading engineering staff and ensuring technical workstreams are delivered to plan and produce great outcomes. You will engage directly with customer representatives on occasions and be expected to apply your expertise across all phases of the project lifecycle. You will be part of the programme leadership team and directly contribute to the organisation, planning, effective operation, governance, and commercial success of the projects and programme. This is a role which from time to time will require your hands-on contribution to project deliverables.

About you

Your effectiveness in the role will be strongly determined by your attitude and demonstration of a professional approach in all aspects of your work. You will be a clear communicator in both written and oral form, and show strong commitment to achieving agreed outcomes and meeting delivery schedules.

Experience Level Required

You will have previously worked and proven your capability in engineering and project leadership roles on wireless communications design and delivery projects. Ideally, you will have experience from start to finish on projects of medium to large scale.

You will have direct experience and/or have managed others in one or more of the following domains:

  • Customer requirements analysis and elaboration
  • LMR network architectures for reliability and resiliency
  • RF systems engineering (frequency planning, capacity modelling, coverage)
  • Transmission and linking networks (wireless/wired, IP based)
  • IT systems, equipment, and security/
  • End-user radio equipment and configuration
  • End-user migration and change management

Will have

  • An Engineering or Science degree in a related field
  • Training or qualifications in systems engineering or project management
  • At least 3-5 years in mobile communications systems and project engineering leadership roles
  • Familiarity with digital LMR systems, especially P25
