Our Construction & Innovation Group

The Construction and Innovation Group supports Kāinga Ora to grow its public and supported housing portfolio through the design and development of high quality homes that meet the needs of the community now and in the future, and by driving innovation across the construction sector. The Construction and Innovation Group also advises on standards for quality homes, provides planning and logistical support in the rehousing of tenants affected by construction and provides construction pipeline scheduling and reporting.

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

The Programme Manager - Social Outcomes will take a key role in the Social Outcomes team enabling our build partners to successfully implement and sustain social outcomes on construction projects.  They will have overall responsibility nationwide but day-to-day focus is on Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and Te Tai Tokerau/Northland, as the result of social procurement.

This encompasses collaborating closely with a range of service provider organisations, build partners and key Kāinga Ora stakeholders.  Influencing our stakeholders to understand and get behind the importance of implementing social outcomes is central to this role, as is supporting them in building their skills in this area. Additionally, the role will provide expert advice to the Manager Social Outcomes in developing collateral and strategic plans to further social outcomes for Kāinga Ora, our communities and the construction industry.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

  • Experience/background in Construction industry, relationship management and/or business development and/or people development and/or community development
  • Commercial industry experience, particularly involvement with enabling the implementation of social, community or Iwi/Māori/RōpÅ« outcomes
  • Programme management (lead and participant in large projects focused on people development)
  • Foundational competence in Te Ao Maori and Pasifika cultural values. Cultural competence in a wide range of settings
  • Awareness of one's own "cultural bearing"
  • Working in and creating inclusive and diverse environments
  • Significant experience in leveraging internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes
  • Agile in balancing proactive and responsive activities.  Follows through on commitments, communicating early where obstacles are and how to overcome them.
  • Is able to influence others to effectively deliver on tasks.   Adapts own work to reflect changing needs of situation, sees issues as they are emerging. 
  • See broad issues through different lenses, provides alternatives.  Understands and explains strategies, aligns team plans and activities.
  • Contributes to peer team, works collaboratively across organisation, encourages broad views and diversity of thought
