We are open to receiving applications from varying backgrounds for this role with a minimum of a Bachelors degree.  Candidates with relevant proven experience or transferrable skills will also be considered.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As the Programme Advisor, you will contribute to the development and implementation of new systems and processes to bring consistency to the design, location and management of the state highway billboard programme.

You will work alongside the Relationships Road Safety team and be responsible for leading and resetting the approach to optimising the effectiveness of the state highway billboard network.

If you want to work in a fantastic team with a strong and clear purpose and you enjoy strengthening external partner relationships, this is the role for you.  There will be some travel required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • strong relationship management skills and stakeholder engagement experience
  • excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • proven influencing and collaboration skills within and across organisations
  • a broad understanding of the Safe System Approach to road safety
  • an understanding of the impacts of the transport system and its effect on economic, social, cultural and environmental outcomes
  • the ability to support the implementation of the current strategy/policy/regulation that relates to the transport system into effective road safety promotion programme delivery
  • an understanding of reporting systems, performance targets and milestones
  • an existing relationships, networks and credibility within the transport sector and road safety community, which would be a bonus

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

 Waka Kotahi requires that new employees are fully vaccinated (except for those who we accept have a genuine medical reason preventing vaccination).
