The Network Management team within Microsoft Advertising is helping to power the monetization engine for Microsoft’s and third-party publishers’ online search & native services.  We have a broad responsibility across business planning, forecasting, demand analytics, performance management including delivering operational insights, and  monetization efforts all of which are critical to ensuring the long-term health of our advertising platform. We work with groups across engineering and sales on driving growth initiatives and monetization improvements to our platform to help better enable our publishers and advertisers. The team is responsible for developing advanced techniques to turn data into insights; and to drive actions based on those insights end to end. The work environment empowers you to have a real impact on Microsoft’s business, our advertiser & publisher partners, and millions of end users.

 

We are currently seeking a Program Manager 2 who will focus on marketplace analytics and platform management across our demand and supply aimed at understanding key trends and business performance drivers and opportunities. This individual will also help with product management activities and strategy around ad delivery systems and auction mechanics.  In this role you will dive into heavy amounts of data and gain an understanding of levers that drive performance. You will have a keen intellect for generating data driven answers to complex business challenges. Equally important is your ability to communicate across a varied range of partners. This will require a strong understanding of our ads systems and processes and an ability to work and leverage resources across the organization.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Generate actionable insights to improve the search advertising platform, increasing both long-term revenue and relevance.
  • Program management duties with respect to our ad delivery systems and auction mechanics product changes
  • Assist with monetization initiatives end to end by partnering across engineering, sales, and marketing through ideation, creation, and execution of sales programs
  • Help with the development of Rhythm of Business (ROB) reporting and understanding of business drivers.
  • Provide planning inputs to assist with short to long-term revenue forecasts that incorporate the business strategy as well as economic and competitive influences.
  • Be a Strategic Advisor: Provide thought leadership, advice, influence and insight to partners across other teams.
  • Develop and lead executive level presentations on monetization focused projects
  • Lead project work streams with limited oversight

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in an analytical role
  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in working with large data sets, MS Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work with large data sets, obtain information, identify trends, and lead solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent story-teller with a strong ability to explain complex data and analysis with simplicity and clarity.
  • Self-starter with proven record of working independently and collaboratively in a demanding interdisciplinary team environment
  • Keen ability to spot outliers in data, the persistence to find what the cause is and drive to understand the unknown.
  • Hands-on approach to data analysis with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Detail oriented & thorough, with ability to understand and identify the key trends and levers that drive the business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or Business-related field strong emphasis on data analytics. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous search industry experience is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of auction theory preferred.
  • Understanding of the Paid Search ecosystem preferred
