Job Description
Position: Production Automation Director, Bell Media
Location: Agincourt
Salary: Operations Group 9b - (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. (Shift work and overtime as required)
Responsibilities:
- Direct or act as an Assistant Director utilizing automation to prepare and produce shows for various broadcast productions
- Times overall show and individual components of broadcast including supers, reports, lives, interviews and other show elements
- Maintains equipment, software and technical apparatus in a state suitable and available for production use by ensuring their proper operating condition
- In the case of technical or program failure, makes substitutions or adjustments as necessary to maintain continuous service. Assist broadcast personnel in solving problems
- Coordinate activities regarding program delivery and presentation
- Inform producer, talent and crew of any significant new developments or changes to the show
- Operate switching equipment, character generators, audio, playback/Nexio, prompter, Floor Manager and other associated technical equipment as required.
- Operate automated studio camera equipment
- Organize and rehearse all elements of the program to ensure talent and crew are fully prepared
- As required, orders broadcast lines and satellites, coordinates remotes
- Ensure that all items to be used in the program are prepared to defined standards
- Provide talent and crew with clear timings during the program
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years experience in News & Sports production
- Extensive knowledge of TV production, including switching, shot blocking, computerized still
- and animated graphic production and news / sports format development
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of iNews or other NRCS
- Ability to work in a team, self-motivated and committed to high production values in
- programming
- Proven creative and multitasking ability
- Superior planning, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Fundamental editorial judgement
- Experience assisting live TV
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
