About the role

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist who's willing to go the extra mile to achieve a great outcome. If you feel like you are up to the challenge, then we would like to hear from you. We offer a fun, exciting and busy team environment where no day will be the same. You'll manage a portfolio of services, and will support the promotion of the procurement policy, state sector procurement guidelines and accepted procurement good practice. You'll be providing procurement advice and assistance, reviewing procurement documentation in line with the procurement policy and assisting in developing and improving Fire and Emergency NZ's procurement systems and practices.

You'll be responsible for the following:

  • End to end procurement process
  • Procurement practices
  • Relationship management with external suppliers
  • Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with stake holders and relevant Fire and Emergency NZ staff
  • Understanding and supporting compliance with Government Procurement Rules

This role is covered by the Fire and Emergency New Zealand COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, with effect from 28 February 2022. This means that it is a requirement that this role is undertaken by a fully vaccinated person (or a person who holds a valid exemption issued by the Director-General of Health).

You'll bring the following to the role:

  • Experience as a Procurement professional, who is used to working within Public Sector environment
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Experience delivering procurement outcomes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to prioritise
  • An ability to think strategically, taking a proactive and longer-term view to issues
  • Knowledge and experience in using the Government Electronic Tendering System (GETS)
  • Experience in developing and managing panel supplier arrangements
