WebXT Platform Team is building a brand new service, with an ambition to scale to all products in WebXT providing necessary infrastructure to schedule & distribute a large number of scenarios for validation. This system will leverage the power of crowdsourcing to auto generate a user perceived quality score representative of the health of the products, to enable teams to be in control of their feature quality and take pride in their product.

The service is expected to run 10s of thousands of scenarios every day for both webpages and apps starting with deployment of right version of operating system/hosting app with appropriate settings and connecting with relevant judges across multiple crowdsourced platforms. In addition, the service will include capabilities to capture the validation process for future debuggability, built in intelligence to target high fidelity judges, ability to dynamically update the pricing for these tasks and support real time routing across platforms to optimize for cost. Responsive dashboard, with real time data ingestion is other fundamental capability, to ease consumption of data by everyone in the organization. To name a few products this service is expected to support - Bing, Maps, Edge, Windows Feeds.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about architecting this service and building it at scale and making it a core service for WebXT.

A suitable candidate is expected to have experience of designing and delivering reliable & scalable distributed services. Understanding of crowdsourced platforms will be a plus. The Engineering Manager role involves building and managing a large team of high-caliber software engineers ensuring product and development excellence, career development and establishing a strong team culture of trust, collaboration & inclusion, working closely with various organizations in WebXT. The role requires quick prototyping, narrowing down design options and existing solutions to deliver on the vision.

Responsibilities

• Work with PM team to create MVP scope, contribute to planning
• Contribute to design of the system at scale for scenarios and canvases to be supported
• Collaborate closely with partner teams across WebXT
• Establish a high bar for Engineering practices in the team
• Lead a highly agile team
• Iterate the capabilities of the system as new requirements emerge post roll out
• Participate in defining future vision of the product
• Evangelize the system for faster and wider adoption

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related discipline
• 9+ years of software engineering industry experience
• Minimum 3 years of technical leadership experience, planning, designing, implementing, and delivering large projects spanning multiple engineers as the primary owner
• A demonstrated track record of excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience architecting and building reliable, distributed services
• Experience developing, debugging and maintaining code
• Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading high performing teams greater than size of 5 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Search products, Telemetry, Metrics
• Knowledge of Crowdsourced platforms
• Good Presentation and influencing skills
• Experience with building platform services
