The Azure Cloud Hardware & Infrastructure Engineering ï´¾CHIEï´¿ team is looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to support our executive office by providing high-quality data solutions to the entire organization. 

The Principal Software Engineering Manager will be a member of the executive office of the VP, reporting through the Chief of Staff, and requires someone who has organizational acumen and technical depth across a large spectrum of data disciplines, a bias for action, and a customer-first mindset. Your ability to partner successfully with a broad group of diverse stakeholders, from senior leaders to support staff, and translate business problems into technical solutions will be critical. As Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will be a leader within the organization. You will help architect our portfolio of tools and systems, set team standards, define processes, work with business and data owners to define requirements and specifications, design solutions, manage, mentor, and develop other engineers, and generally bring clarity to work within our organization

• Define team standards and procedures 
• Plan and prioritize work with our business partners 

• Own the whole scope of the data lifecycle: from collection/ingest to structuring to analysis to reporting. 
• Identify and apply the appropriate tools to efficiently collect, clean, and prepare large volumes of data for analysis. 
• Architect and author cloud-native data ETL pipelines on Azure 
• Stay consistently engaged with stakeholders throughout the engineering lifecycle and delivers reliable data to the organization. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent industry experience. 
• 7+ years of experience working with data, including the continuous management of ETL/data pipelines, processing, storage, and governance. 
• 5+ years of experience leading high-performing teams   
• Expertise in at least one high-level language: Python 3.x, Java, C++, C#, R, SQL. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects in a dynamic, rapid paced environment 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master’s/PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent field of expertise. 

• Solid familiarity with Azure’s analytics stack: Data Lake, Data Explorer/Kusto, Storage, Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, HDInsight (with Spark, Hive, Hadoop, etc.), Azure Functions, and DevOps. 
• Experience leading a team to train, build and infer ML models  
• Demonstrated experience establishing high performing team processes and procedure 
• Experience working in a modern DevOps culture, administering your service in Azure, implementing infrastructure as code, automating manual operations processes, and supporting/ troubleshooting production incidents.
