The Opportunity:
We are looking for a top performing Principal Engineering Manager, who would like to work in a startup-like environment, building technology fast and with high quality. The ideal candidate has successful management experience and strong product design and development skills. You will be a key member of the leadership team: driving critical design initiatives, taking part in strategic and tactical decisions, being accountable for shipping a complete product that succeeds with our customers.
You will be part of a very strong and fun team, building very large-scale data infrastructure, staying touch on the state-of-the-art big data technologies in both open source and Microsoft own stack, developing advanced and practical data pipelining, mining, machine learning, statistics, and measurement techniques for solving the hottest and most challenging problems in the world and generating real impact.
If you have a history of designing, owning, and shipping software, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills, then we want to talk to you. You should have a solid understanding of the software development cycle and have a passion for secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable code. Successful candidates should have ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies and adopt solution from within the company or from the Open-Source community. In addition, strong problem solving & debugging skills are a must

The Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for a fearless and innovative technical leader who is passionate about increasing Teams's daily and monthly usage and retention to join us and drive us to the next level of business success by getting the apps that matter to people at work, at school and at home integrated. The candidate can expect to build a wide range of skills and experiences in this role. The candidate should have experience in all phases of the development cycle, preferably on large-scale commercial products including collaborating across the groups and cross discipline with Design, PM and our partner teams. Candidate is expected to lead the team with an approach that embraces and extends the industry best practices for software engineering.
The team today is agile, shipping monthly, eager to learn, and willing to try new ways of working. The Principal Group Engineering Manager will be expected to lead the team towards a solid vision of the agile and cross-platform engineering, be responsible for a solid architecture and amazing performance and quality, manage a great team, and remove any and all obstacles that are preventing the team from delivering as fast as they can. Candidate must be self-driven, proactive, results-oriented and have the ability to work with minimal ongoing direction
Qualifications
BS degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent degree
13 + years of software development experience with C, C++ or Java
Proven track record as a strong and effective engineering leader - managing and growing successful teams
Strong customer focus and passion for doing the right thing for the customer
Proven ability to establish trusted, effective relationships across diverse sets of stakeholders
Excellent communication skills and cross group collaboration
Ability to quickly pick up existing concepts and employ new techniques and strong problem solving
