The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to two externally funded projects being undertaken by the Computational Biophysics Group of Professor Ben Corry at the Australian National University.

The candidate will contribute to molecular dynamics simulation research on:

• the structure and function of mechanically gated ion channels that are responsible for the sensations such as touch and pain as part of an ARC funded project with Australian Partners; and
• the mechanisms of action of novel RNA therapeutics for treating autoimmune disease by studying their interaction with a known receptor, a collaborative project with an industry partner.

This represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to these rapidly advancing areas of biomedical research and to contribute to the development of methods for molecular simulation. Both projects aim to understand the fundamental molecular details of the protein targets to have societal impact through the design of therapeutic compounds.

The Person

To excel in this role you will have:

• relevant qualifications in biology, chemistry, physics or a related field
• ability to deliver high quality research output
• experience in at least one and preferably several of the following areas:
• conducting high-level molecular dynamics simulations
• programming/scripting and high performance computing
