Description
Within Cienas Agile Programmable Optical Transport (APOT) team we are looking for an experienced software developer to join our team. The focus would be on the development and maintenance of a photonic network simulation tool that uses mathematical models to simulate optical power levels as they propagate throughout an optical network. This simulation tool interacts in real time with our product software and supports software test automation, as well as enables realistic testing of power control algorithms. The desired candidate should have strong software engineering skills and an excellent knowledge of the C and Python languages.
The Responsibilities and Activities:
Develop and improve our photonic network simulator to support new network configurations and new hardware.
Solve issues and work with the various user groups to identify root cause and resolve reported issues.
Ensure the simulation environment is scalable so that it can support the simulation of large networks.
What technical experience and personal skills are required for this role?
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of Software Development Experience.
Strong knowledge of C programming and Python script programming.
Knowledge of templating frameworks such as Jinja.
Brilliant understanding of Data Structures and Multi-threading concepts.
Excellent Problem-Solving for fixing/debugging.
Outstanding written and spoken communications skills.
Able to work Independently.
Good learning skills.
Exposure to Routing Algorithms.
Exposure to TCP/IP networking and socket programming.
Knowledge of optical networks and optical physics concepts.
