SUMMARY
A PhD graduate student position is available in the lab of Dr. Marc Horwitz in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
The graduate student will participate in the discovery of mechanisms of viral-induced immune disease in chronic complex disorders such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetes as well as complications from long-term virus infections such as HIV and Covid-19.
TRAINING ENVIRONMENT
Students are based in the Life Sciences Centre, a building that houses 90 active labs at the University of British Columbia, located in Vancouver, Canada. The translational research activities students participate in, impact human health and wellness. Students can expect to work in a collaborative research environment, have the opportunity to teach, and will interact regularly with faculty, other researchers, students, biostatisticians, and clinicians.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Strong academic performance in your undergraduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated resilience, and the ability to work in a team environment;
Previous hands-on experience with flow cytometry, protein biochemistry techniques, data analysis would be an asset.
