What is the opportunity?
As a Payroll Consultant, Europe, you will be processing employee payroll within the established service level. You be responsible for the identification of issues and activities that may impact the employee experience, operational risk and process efficiencies, as well as providing recommended solutions.
Please note this a 13 month contract opportunity.
What will you do?
Accurate processing of UK and 5 European Countries monthly and off cycle payrolls, on a timely basis. (Manually calculates and inputs changes to payroll)
Verifies and audits payroll prior to and post release including, posting payroll to general ledger accounts
Responsible for monthly remittances (tax, benefits, pension etc.) to tax authorities and third party-providers and reporting.
Responds to escalated inquiries using Service Now case management system. Ensures cases are closed within established service levels.
Investigates and resolves payroll issues and identifies root cause and recommends processes to prevent re-occurrence.
Identifies and recommends solutions to issues, process gaps, service efficiency and effectiveness opportunities to Manager, Payroll Processing.
Gain strong understanding of UK payroll policies, employment standard policies and government related policies. Assisting Manager in ensuring payroll team meets legal and government regulations and RBC compliance requirements.
Document processes (create and update job aids ensuring instructions are continuously maintained), train team members as required, and Project/Initiatives Support - Support initiatives as required.
Ensures accounts are reconciled in a timely manner, variances explained and cleared prior to monthly results closure and coordinate with Finance team clearing of any outstanding items prior to the P&L close
Maintain relationship with European payroll vendors in order to facilitate the accurate processing of those payrolls.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-haveÂ
Minimum 5 years Payroll experience
Excellent investigative, audit skills and superior verbal and written communication skills
Good knowledge of government requirements relating to payroll and knowledge of RBC general ledger and payroll accounts
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word etc)
Must be available to work the hours of operation (6 am to 2 pm)
Nice-to-have
Good knowledge of HR/Payroll WorkDay application or equivalent payroll applications
Good knowledge of UK ADP Freedom application and/or World Service application, an asset
Knowledge of Service Now case management application
Knowledge of general ledger and payroll accounts
