Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Legal team is seeking an inquisitive Senior Paralegal Specialist to work in a fast-paced environment on marketing matters for theatrical and non-theatrical distribution, in-home distribution of Disney’s portfolio of content (i.e., DVDs, Blu-Rays and the Disney Movie Club), as well as marketing and operational matters for The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and Disney Studio Store Hollywood and any related theatrical and non-theatrical distribution matters. We are looking for a bright, personable, self-motivated and reliable person who can work closely with attorneys and other professionals, and will exercise the highest level of ethics and discretion. Excellent drafting skills and intellectual curiosity are required. Some prior exposure to clearing promotional and marketing materials, licensing, and motion picture marketing and/or distribution are strongly preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
Minimum of 7 years of experience in contract negotiation and drafting
Work closely with other attorneys and directly with business units to draft, negotiate and close promotional and marketing agreements for Disney’s Theatrical and Non-theatrical distribution businesses, Home Entertainment, Disney Movie Club, Digital Marketing and Publicity teams, including promotional tie-in agreements, creative services agreements, marketing production agreements, digital agreements, premium vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, talent and participant releases, license agreements, advertising agreements, and content production and distribution agreements.
Coordinate with internal business and legal colleagues to clear marketing and advertising materials (e.g., website materials, promotional e-mails and other promotional materials) for a variety of clients, in DMED’s Platform Distribution team, including the Home Entertainment, Disney Movie Club and non-theatrical teams, and the El Capitan Theatre.
Coordinate with internal business and legal colleagues to draft and review sweepstakes and contest materials.
Work closely with lawyers and experts from relevant internal groups (e.g., labor relations, clearances, intellectual property, privacy, music, risk management, etc.) to analyze and advise on complicated legal issues.
Review and clear merchandise designs for the Disney Studio Store Hollywood
Draft and review operational and maintenance agreements for the El Capitan Theatre.
Draft and review agreements for stage shows and license agreements for video/photo shoots at the El Capitan Theatre
Administrative functions, such as sending documents out for signature via DocuSign, following up on contracts and insurance certificates, and filing
Perform special projects and other related duties, as assigned or requested.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree and/or qualification to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes. JD’s will be considered.
