What is the opportunity?
RBC’s OTC Derivatives Settlements team within BCS (Business and Client Services) is looking to hire an Analyst on a one year contract to join its Halifax Office. The incumbent will provide settlement support to internal and external stakeholders for OTC Interest Rate Derivative (IRD) products traded globally in Capital Markets. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the daily rates captured in the Infinity and Murex systems, required for rate fixings. These are used for settlement purposes on a wide array of OTC Derivative products – including but not limited to Interest Rate Swaps (IRS), Options, Forward Rate Agreements (FRA’s) and Structured trades. This is an opportunity to develop a good understanding of operational best practices through exposure to the 2021 ISDA Interest Rate Derivatives Definitions.
What will you do?
Rate Fixing
Perform functions for daily Rate Resets activity, accurately and on a timely basis for rate fixing and settlement purposes.
Assist external counterparties or internal BCS personnel with rate investigations and/or discrepancies where applicable. Address inquiries in timely fashion and escalate outstanding items.
Liaise with Marketers, Traders, Documentation Officers ‘and Analysts to ensure that proper trade details are maintained.
Review Upcoming Payments.
Training and Support
Provide direct support and guidance to the junior reset analyst and provide assistance to managers/leaders as required.
Ensure compliance with mandated Unit Financial Controls /SOX Controls and RBC “Standing Orders†Policy requirements.
Update the EUC Change Log for any changes made to the identified EUC spreadsheets
Develop solid understanding of derivative products.
Provide critical basic coverage to the London Rate Setting Desk for purposes recording and inputting rates, running cash flows, and daily reports.
Team improvements and efficiencies
Proactively identify opportunities to further streamline processes. Recommend cost efficient and effective controls for the team with the introduction of new processes, products and systems.
What you need to succeed?
Must-have
Post-Secondary education or equivalent
Intermediate to Advanced Excel/VBA Skills (Pivot Tables and Macros)
High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to analyze large amounts of data.
Strong interpersonal in communicating with other analysts, traders, and clients
Nice-to-haves
Good working knowledge and accounting/valuation concepts of Derivatives products
Strong problem solving skills and organizational skills to handle high volumes.
2 years’ experience within Derivatives Operations - exposure to Credit and Fixed Rate Derivatives
Good working knowledge of various (RBC) Systems: Microsoft Word, Excel, Anvil, Infinity, Murex, eGL, StorQM, OBI, RIMMS OPICS
Knowledge of Capital Markets trading practices or OTC Derivatives products terminology
