Te tĪma - The team

Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive responsible for business planning, this role is part of Te Pātaka Rangahau, te Whakapāpātanga (our Parliamentary Library and Engagement Group) but will work across both the Parliamentary Service and the Office of the Clerk. Te Pātaka Rangahau, te Whakapāpātanga provides support to Parliament through the provision of trusted library, information and research services, and services related to internal and external communications, education, inter-parliamentary relations and Māori protocols.

Mō te tÅ«nga About the role

You will help to implement good planning, governance and accountability practices for both the Parliamentary Service and Office of the Clerk. You will be a part of creating and instilling business planning processes, performance measures framework and producing accountability and strategic documents. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence will help you to advise and assist in the development of long-term strategy and related accountabilities that are put in place.

Ngā haepapa - Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Advise and support the implementation of strategic decision making for both organisations
  • Produce and provide input into accountability documents including strategic intentions, annual reports, select committee questions and review processes, and other statutory documents and reports
  • Provide input into monthly business planning reporting, identifying key themes/risks and providing advice to senior leaders
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders and managers of both the Parliamentary Service and the Office of the Clerk
  • Support managers to align business plans to the strategic direction of the organisations

Tō kete - What you will bring to the role will include the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in business or three plus years' experience in a similar role
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage your time by prioritising workflows to meet deadlines
  • Sound knowledge of legislation and how Parliament works
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and maintain relationships, particularly with senior stakeholders
