As a Product Software Integration Technologist, you will be a contributor to the business, helping to deliver the product testing and customer software support required to make world class optical coherent optical modules. This testing and software support will be passionate about coherent optical modules including the hardware, software interface, control, and alarms. You will be involved with hands-on feature & traffic testing, developing test tools, developing automation tools, performing testing in accordance with a testplan, and help our customers with integration of our products into their systems. You will be heavily involved in the integration of Ciena optical modules into larger optical & switching platforms. You will often work at the bit/byte detailed level while still understanding the higher level customer requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

Direct engagement with customers, crafting and providing them with software examples to help them with product integration, and responding to customer software queries.

Hands-on testing of features of optical modules, using hosts such as switching platforms and evaluation boards.

Develop test tools on the evaluation platform.

Automation of software test cases using Python.

Management & maintenance of lab setups.

Identifying customer issues and driving resolution into the HW & SW design teams.

Validation of customer documentation. Work with design and the FAEs to ensure that customer documentation is accurate and complete.

Provide feedback on the design and help to drive improvements into the optical module.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a diploma from a recognized technology school or university, with a focus on software development.

Understanding of current test practices including test suite creation, test coverage and defect tracking.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of software design, management interfaces, defect monitoring, performance monitoring and register maps.

Experience with software development in a Linux environment, C/C programming experience, Python & Java scripting.

Familiarity with transport protocols (Ethernet, OTN).

Experience with lab test equipment.

Knowledge of photonic system components (terminals, optical amplifiers, ROADMs, etc).
