The Operations Manager is responsible for the safety, quality, environmental, production, and cost performance of the operations. You will provide leadership and guidance to your team to create a results-oriented, high performance culture that is driven to deliver continuous improvement in all these areas of responsibility. As a key member of the plant leadership team, you will participate in developing the longer-term strategy to drive improvements for the site.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage the production team for compliance with all environmental, health and safety standards to meet the production plan safely and reliably.
- Ensure all HACCP and food safety requirements are met by department.
- Ensure all necessary compliance training requirements are met for production personnel.
- Manage and coordinate department to ensure quality and production targets are met for the plant.
- Develop, set, track, and report out KPI’s to meet production plan requirements.
- Manage department to eliminate all non-compliances with food safety procedures and adherence to plant GMP policies.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to streamline operations to increase output, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Lead corrective action teams for continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate the daily functions of the warehouse to ensure proper workflow for incoming and outgoing products and that adequate staffing is available.
- Monitor minimum inventories to ensure customer orders are delivered on time and in full as per service agreements
- Develop budget and manage spend for production area to meet targets.
- Ensure departmental operating procedures are kept current in accordance with plant requirements.
- Represent Ingredion to 3rd party agencies and customer auditors.
- Use Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Equipment Analysis, and 3P tools to prevent future or recurring failures, and injuries or incidents.
- Participate in the site joint health and safety committee
- Liaise with Process Technology to coordinate product scale ups and technology transfer.
- Support and set strategy, KPIs, and deliverables for continuous improvement toward 100% first pass quality.
- Generate a committed, efficient, and team-oriented attitude/philosophy and performance within the area of operations
- Identify and leverage opportunities to streamline the workforce to drive synergies, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency.
- Drive the Supervisory Development Program to enhance the capability and provide ongoing personal development for the salaried staff.
- Lead Performance Management activities across all operational units to ensure consistency of evaluation.
- Identify high performers and recommend ongoing development opportunities for those people.
- Ensure that the site is properly staffed, without excess headcount while monitoring and controlling overtime.
Qualified candidates will have:
- A 4-year degree minimum preferred, or equivalent in education and experience.
- Pulse protein experience preferred
- 5+ years food manufacturing or industrial experience preferred
- 5+ years in a leadership role within a manufacturing facility preferred.
- Strong leadership traits, with demonstrated success.
- Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Knowledge of HACCP, ISO and FSSC 22000 an asset.
- Assertive, creative, energetic, and positive thinker.
- PC literate. Working knowledge of office 365 as well as SAP an asset.
