Waitemata District Health Board, has a part time position for a Clinical Nurse Educator for our Mental Health Service for Older People

Are you practicing at an expert level with experience in the care of older people with mental health needs? Are you committed to the development of nurses and nursing practice? We are looking for a dynamic and experienced nurse with a passion for education, and a creative approach to patient and family centred care together with exceptional communication skills and self-initiated behaviour. If you also have strong leadership ability, are highly organised with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, this is an opportunity for you to advance your nursing career within a District Health Board that is committed to your professional development.

With a strong emphasis on clinical teaching, coaching and supervision skills, to support clinical decision-making in practice, you will work across the acute inpatient unit at North Shore Hospital, and the two community service campuses at Karaka Street Takapuna and Waitakere Hospital. You will provide support for our nurses through the development and delivery of in-house nursing education, educational resources and competency requirements.

Essential 

  • Registered Nurse with New Zealand Nursing Council
  • Nursing Council of New Zealand 'Registered Nurse' Scope of Practice 
  • Current practicing Certificate
  • Five years post registration practice as a Mental Health Nurse working with older people, preferably across the inpatient and community settings.
  • Post Graduate Certificate/ Diploma in mental health nursing practice; studying towards completion of Masters in advanced mental health nursing practice is highly desirable
