Key Responsibilities:

• Create the daily vision, produce and execute engaging and exciting daily newscasts and segments
• Support the Assignment Desk in selecting, researching and assigning stories for the daily line-up
• Anchoring and producing the 11:00PM newscasts
• Write and vet news copy: intros, voiceovers, bumpers, and reporter scripts
• Source compelling content from network sources to augment locally-shot items
• Keep on top of what’s happening locally; monitor social media, wires, and other news sources
• Take the two-hour live evening newscast to air from the control room

Critical Qualifications:

• Proven background in news producing with a strong editorial sense and news judgement
• Journalism / University level education a definite asset
• Must be a skilled writer. Writing and editing copy is a cornerstone of the position
• Self-initiative and ability to work independently under pressure of deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Anchoring experience considered an asset
• Minimum 3 years newsroom experience
• Keen interest in and understanding of current events, local community issues and political structures
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to make quick decisions 
• Able to foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience in Electronic News Gathering, Video/Audio/Editing
