Job Description

Calling all new graduate or experienced Occupational Therapists! Are you seeking a change of pace and lifestyle?

Our vibrant and friendly rural hospital team based at the Dargaville Hospital currently have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is able to work in either the inpatient or community setting.

Dargaville is a small rural community in scenic Northland, with spectacular locations like Baylys Beach and Kai Iwi Lakes within easy driving distance.

At Northland DHB, some of us are born and bred locals, others have chosen to call Northland home. But all of us share a close team spirit that truly connects with community members in our care. No wonder going the extra mile is second nature around here - we're looking after family, whilst being supported and encouraged to look after our own wellbeing.

While the work can be challenging, it is extremely rewarding, working with the inpatients for discharge planning and in the community setting across the Dargaville Area.

Northland DHB is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Māori as Tāngata Whenua as the highest priority.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Registration and hold a current practicing certificate
  • A current drivers licence
  • A sound knowledge of community support services, daily living equipment, and funding systems
  • A good working knowledge of emotional and social issues
  • Interpersonal skills and an ability to work closely with patients and whānau, and other agencies
  • Previous experience in a rural setting is advantageous

If this sounds like the opportunity for you, apply today by completing the online application form, and submitting your cover letter and CV/resume.

A career with Northland DHB will see you action meaningful change in the region we love, and in your professional development - all whilst enjoying everything the stunning North has to offer. You really can enjoy the best of both.

Our people live our Values:

Tangata I te tuatahi People First - People are central to all we do

Whakaute (tuku mana) Respect - We treat others as they would like to be treated

Manaaki Caring - We nurture those around us, and treat all with dignity and compassion
