Are you looking for an opportunity to engage with senior leaders and influence how we land our commercial and MS Federal business model and strategy?  Do you want to be part of a team that works cross functional and partners with stakeholders up to EVP levels?  If so, Microsoft is hiring a MS Federal Sales Execution Advisor who will support our MS Federal business and play this critical role.  Success in this role starts with an ability to understand the strategy and align operational planning and execution to help achieve these goals while being a trusted advisor for our sellers and sales leaders. 

 

The Mission and The Team

This role is in the Worldwide Incentive Compensation (WWIC) team and the team mission is to Enable Strategy, Motivate Sellers, and Reward Results.  In pursuit of this mission, the team designs and implements incentive-based compensation plans for sellers, sales leaders, and consultants across Microsoft.

 

Role

The MS Federal Sales Execution Advisor (Business Program Manager) role will be a member of the recently created Microsoft Federal WWIC team and will play a vital role in effectively enabling the team to support the Microsoft Federal business.  This position will be responsible for providing guidance and clarity to the MS Federal sales organization on how to leverage the incentive compensation programs to achieve the company’s strategic sales goals.  This includes implementing the compensation plan and driving strategic discussions on compensation models, guiding the business on the right solution.  The MS Federal Sales Execution Advisor will also provide advice on specific business cases through the sales leadership chain and propose solutions to complex business problems.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

Perform analytics for Sales Leadership on compensation performance, compensation scenario analysis, and effectiveness reviews in order to provide business insight.

Establish strong trusted partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders (Finance, HR, Sales Excellence and Sales management) to proactively identify and address business needs from a compensation perspective. You should also drive regular cadence and strong partnership health to ensure maximum benefits can be achieved through this engagement.

Engage with business using the voice of our customer to review and challenge the different dimensions of all aspects of fairness and equality with regards to the compensation design and implementation.

Engage with Sales leaders to review field considerations and obtain feedback on proposals to drive that point of view into the plan design process. Weigh up all opportunities that they have identified and assess weaknesses. Proactively seek to address issues arising from the landing of the current plan.

Overall accountability to ensure that landing of quota / plan distribution and exception case management review is achieved, plus through partnership with our operations team that all compensation calculations, accurate participant and setup data, quota and revenue adjustments, and all operational tasks in relation to payouts for our sellers are audited and completed to ensure accuracy and timely submissions.

Ensure a solid training plan with field leadership and management is rolled out during fiscal year start and continued training and learning throughout the year for all sales teams. Landing of training to new hires on core compensation processes. Additional training engagements may arise through local kickoffs, segment events or national / global sales conferences.

Responsible for providing SME level leadership and education to multiple businesses/processes and field teams.

Use independent judgement to address escalated issues and queries concerning the incentive plan and policies/guidelines.

Ensure compliance with the business rules defined by WW Incentive Compensation and Internal Audit.

Lead and/or participate in special projects that drive step change improvements to our processes and tools for a global coverage.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

5+ years of experience in any compensation advisor, business operations, HR/Comp and Benefits, finance and analysis, strategic or relationship management role 

Strong EQ and self-awareness in both leading the team and interacting with peers/leaders 

Ability to drive clarity over very complex information quickly for the intended audience

This position requires verification of U.S Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to translate very detailed and nuanced ideas into high level presentations that facilitate management of the business while at the same time building successful relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to help drive results

Strong analytical skill and the ability to look left to right across the needs of the business and determine where to apply pressure and where to partner with teams to drive an outcome together

Strong teamwork skills and ability to successfully drive cross-functional stakeholder consensus and action planning

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high pressure / fast paced environments and consistently delivering on expectations
