We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and committed registered nurses to join the National Youth Secure Forensic Inpatient team at Keneperu Hospital. We offer an MDT approach to specialised assessment and treatment for youth offenders with mental health problems within a bi-cultural model of care. We work within a framework of clinical governance and are a progressive service committed to providing a culture of ongoing professional development for staff through regular supervision, an excellent professional development and recognition programme (PDRP), regular in-service training and support towards external education.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The service is co-located with our existing Acute Youth Mental Health Inpatient Unit (Rangatahi) and the Youth Intellectual Disability (ID) Inpatient Unit (Hikitia Te Wairua). The three units are collectively known as the -The Youth Centre for Excellence- at Kenepuru Hospital. This service is part of Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAID) 3DHB.-

Moū - About you

• Registered Nurses are required to provide 24 hour care to our rangatahi in conjunction with the MDT. They provide assessment and intervention and are responsible for the oversight of the unregulated workforce
• Previous youth and/or forensic experience preferred
• Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse
• Current Practising Certificate

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB-s and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa.
