Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth

  • Permanent Full time and Part time roles based in New Plymouth with travel to South Taranaki required.
  • Registered Health Professional with Current Practicing Certificate.
  • Passion for Mental Health & Addictions, exceptional interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Both Allied Health, Therapists and Nursing applicants will be considered.
  • 2 years’ experience within specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health required

What you’ll do with your time

  • Undertakes all components of key working, including comprehensive assessment, risk assessment and management, wellness and treatment planning
  • Provides client-centred care, utilising evidence-based treatment strategies including, where appropriate, talking therapies
  • Coordinate care at the right time with input from external providers
  • Assisting across the wider team where needed.

Our Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team is currently looking for skilled and passionate mental health professionals. The roles are vital to the mental health of our children and young people across Taranaki as you will be supporting them through their journey along with their whanau. These roles will be working within the community and within our integrated model of care. There will be opportunities and support for professional development and ongoing role development. The team works with children and young people 0-18 years of age and has close links with other child health staff including Paediatricians, inpatient facility staff and Non-Government Organisations.

We are looking for individuals with the following traits

  • Excellent assessment, communication & relationship building skills
  • Passion for child & youth mental health
  • Flexibility to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding and application of the principles of the treaty of Waitangi, with a culturally safe and appropriate approach to practice
  • Strong theoretical and practical application of a range of therapies relevant for working with young people
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • A strong understanding of Māori health inequity and Māori population need
  • Understanding of contemporary approaches to mental health and wellbeing
  • Clean & full drivers’ licence as you will be traveling in DHB cars.
