The laboratory operates a 24/7 service across both North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital.

We are looking for a full time medical laboratory scientist to join our busy Microbiology department.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Two to five years’ experience in a hospital Microbiology Laboratory
• Experience in PCR testing
• Some knowledge or experience in Biochemistry

The successful candidate must be willing to train and work in both Biochemistry and Microbiology. Participation in a 24/7 multiskilled (Biochemistry and Microbiology) roster is a requirement, once training is completed.

You will need to be a team player, well organised and able to manage the demands of competing priorities in a busy hospital laboratory environment.

The applicant must have:

• A current annual practising certificate and current registration with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council or eligibility to register with the Council.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A positive and flexible approach to shift work.
