What you will do
In this role you will be responsible for purchasing NZDF materials under contract, and ensuring that c-class items are procured in a cost effective manner and delivered on time. You will achieve this by liaising with the material planners and vendors to enable SAP master data to remain accurate.
Working with the other Material Requirements Planners you will ensure that inventory costs are optimised by balancing the investment in stock held in RNZAF warehouse and FSS facilities with the total costs to transact and manage the material.
This role is also responsible for managing the purchase orders raised through weekly reporting and adherence to the purchasing guidelines laid down in the NZDF's Defence Force Orders.
Please note: This is a part time role of 20 hours per week.
What we need
We are seeking a person with an excellent understanding of MRP principles. You will have gained this through your significant work experience within an MRP, purchasing and/or inventory management environment. You will have also worked with a computerised maintenance management system including SAP modules, inventory, MRP/purchasing and business intelligence.
A good level of proficiency within Microsoft Office is essential as is the ability to analyse data, particularly inventory analysis.
You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal coupled with strong interpersonal skills allowing you to establish and maintain good working relationships with suppliers and customers.
Being self-motivated with excellent planning and organisational skills you can prioritise tasks to meet timelines and effectively manage competing and changing priorities. Using initiative you are able to find innovative solutions to problems and suggest progressive changes, you enjoy working collectively within a supportive team.
We are ideally seeking a person with some formal training in material requirements planning and qualifications in SAP job roles, inventory management and MRP.
Who we are
The Inventory Management Team is responsible for the supply chain management of all aeronautical and non-aeronautical consumable spares. It includes the development and ongoing management of the consumable inventory (approx. $130M pa). This involves the use of a range of forecasting tools to ensure spares are available in a timely manner. It also involves constant international vendor management to ensure that delivery schedules are met and that priorities are understood. Furthermore, there is a constant pursuit of cost and process efficiency and therefore engagement with external contractors to investigate the potential for more holistic end to end supply chain solutions.
