At Te TÄhuhu o te MÄtauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to Äkonga and whÄnau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group and team
Te Pae Aronui uses information, insights and service design functions to help the three Te Mahau frontline groups design and deliver services for the sector. We service and support the frontline groups and play an integration role between the enabling functions and our frontline services.
Our group provides nationally consistent service design, practice guidance and systems to support the integrated teams led by Directors of Education.
You'll be joining a collaborative, high-performing team within the Network and School Delivery group that has a culture of constructive, open-minded debate who work together to implement effective, positive change in schools. MŠtēnei tūranga | About this role
This role oversees the School Support and Student Transitions teams. It is responsible for the success of key schooling and tertiary initiatives through the provision of strong leadership and guidance for our regional staff.
The School Support Team is responsible for guidance about child protection, emergency management, Health and Safety, After Hours Music and Art and the Principal Recruitment Allowance. The team also manages Hostel licensing.
The Student Transitions Team is responsible for vocational education and training pathways careers transitioning, and youth at risk of low employment outcomes. The team provides nationally consistent service design and practice guidance to our regional staff, to support learners to move through education to employment with particular areas of focus at senior secondary level including NCEA, Trades Academies and Services Academies,

To be successful in this role, you will be an excellent communicator and have extensive experience in building and leading high-performing teams. You challenge and develop others through interpersonal influence and your relationship management skills, as well as effectively engage with a range of stakeholders. Your ability to think strategically and understand the wider educational landscape will enable you make effective, well-informed decisions that progress the teams' initiatives and work-programmes.
