What is the opportunity?
In this role, you will be responsible for the management of the Reconciliation team and is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and leading people. You will ensure RBC Investor & Treasury Services (I&TS) policies & procedures are strictly adhered to and ensure that all department processes & controls are being followed. You will foster a mindset of client-centric service and collaboration and seek out opportunities for process enhancements, simplification, STP, and automation.
In addition, you will be responsible for the ongoing production of accurate reconciliation for the team’s entire fund range. You will ensure effective controls and processes must be implemented & managed in order to maintain accurate records, and business risk identified, managed & mitigated. All audit and regulatory requirements must be clearly satisfied and key service level agreements (SLAs) met. You will be responsible for updating and evolving processes and procedures to minimize risk.
What will you do?
- Manage team resources effectively (vacations, overtime, changing workload)
- Provide primary oversight of the consistency & accuracy of the team’s daily deliverables
- Monitor reconciliation activity (cash, security and unit-holder) and act as primary point of escalation for all outstanding breaks and provide oversight of daily, weekly, semi-monthly or monthly Breaks
- Monitor deadlines as per service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure excellence in service delivery
- Act as the primary escalation point within the team and escalate to senior management when required and liaise with Fund Accounting teams as needed to ensure timely and accurate information sharing
- Minimize NAV discrepancies and financial losses and ensure timely reporting and implement any corrective actions and establish an environment of continuous improvement that assesses workflow, processes and procedures on an ongoing basis, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality within the team
- Participate in projects such as system upgrades and be the key contact for reconciliation changes brought about by on-boarding new clients, new fund launches, conversions, terminations, or mergers
- Responsible for evolution of procedures & controls to reduce or eliminate operational risk
- Achieve satisfactory rating from internal and external audits
- Ensure participation in BCP plan testing and coach Senior Recon Analyst, and Recon Analyst on process, risk, and controls to increase level of knowledge within the team
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- University degree or equivalent (Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred)
- Extensive funds industry experience
- Proven experience in Fund Accounting/Pricing/Client Reporting environment
- Financial markets experience (Custodian/Fund Manager/Broker)
- Strong knowledge of fund industry, products and financial markets in general
- Knowledgeable of geography’s regulatory environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS and country specific accounting standards)
- Sound planning, organizational, and management skills
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Good networking and client relationship skills
- Computer literacy
Nice-to-have
- Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
- Other designations (CFA)
