BMC is a KKR-backed Enterprise software company looking for a high caliber corporate strategist to join our Corporate Initiatives (CI) team. In this role, you will work closely with team members and business leaders to develop, plan, and execute BMC’s most critical strategic initiatives. This role offers exposure across the breadth of our business and visibility with senior executives. By joining in the early stages of our multi-year transformation, you’ll play an integral part in building the CI team and setting the direction of the organization.Â
As an in-house consulting team, Corporate Initiatives core executive mandates are:Â
- Execution of corporate strategic initiatives: Partner with BMC leadership and provide structure, planning, and coordination to drive the execution of BMC’s highest priority corporate strategic initiativesÂ
- Disciplined approach to corporate roadmap development: (Co)Develop the analytical models to project the 12-36-month corporate vision based on BMC and analysis of market data, trends, and factsÂ
- Operations and process efficiency: Set the business standard for core business processes and systems; project scoping and business case development for large projects and system deploymentÂ
- Talent and leadership development: Attract and develop high potential talent that is exposed to a wide variety of problems across the breadth of BMC and is comfortable challenging the status quoÂ
About the role:Â
As a member of the Corporate Initiatives team, the successful candidate will:Â
- Play an active role in structuring and driving BMC’s annual strategic business review and planning processes, supporting the strategy development for specific business unitsÂ
- Lead the planning, structuring, and execution BMC’s most critical corporate strategic priorities, working closely with business units, functions, and senior level executivesÂ
- Conduct research and data analysis as inputs to strategic decision-making impacting customer focus, product portfolio, go-to-market strategies, and corporate business modelsÂ
- Participate in acquisition integration projects, realizing the maximum value from our M&A strategyÂ
- Manage projects that require cross-functional collaboration; set deadlines; assign responsibilities; monitor and summarize progress; research requirements; recruit support as necessary and provide proposals on action plan, including success criteria and measurementsÂ
- Develop, analyze and prepare information for presentation to senior level executives and the BoardÂ
About the ideal candidate:Â
Curious by nature, you have a foundation in strategy or management consulting, investment banking, or private equity. Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills are essential. You are looking to apply these skills in a setting where you will be responsible for demonstrating impact and results and owning a piece of work from inception to completion. You are a team player capable of influencing and motivating people at all levels of the organization. As an independent thinker, you thrive in tackling ambiguous problems – translating them into actionable plans and solving them using internal and external data and facts. You are comfortable communicating with senior level executives and delivering presentations. In addition, you can see the big picture by considering the global impacts of actions and decisions that may be taken.Â
Qualifications:Â
- 5-8 years’ experience in corporate strategy, consulting, private equity, or tech strategy/ops function; experience in tech / software a plusÂ
- Strong background in conceptual problem solving and analytical skills (strong Excel skills, familiarity with Tableau, SQL, and/or Python a plus)Â
- Track record of structuring and leading cross-functional initiatives, hitting goals, and succeeding in a team environmentÂ
- Ability to lead and manage a cross-functional project team and CI team members, proven experience in coaching and developing team membersÂ
- Outstanding communication skills; confidence in presenting to senior executivesÂ
- BA/BS degree in business, science, engineering or similar discipline preferred; MBA, MA, or other graduate degree a plusÂ
- Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time once safe to do soÂ
