What is the opportunity?
You will support the Head, Risk and Control Governance Canada, partner with the Business & Client Services (BCS) line managers and CAD Risk & Control Governance team to execute the Canada Operations Risk & Control framework to ensure risks are proactively identified, measured, monitored, and escalated appropriately.
**Please note, the position level for this role will depend on the candidate’s background and experience**.
What will you do?
Support the execution of BCSRisk and Control Governance framework; including but not limited to the following activities:
- Administer the Risk and Control Assessment Program (RCAP) based in Canada
- Participate in the review, analysis and reporting of the Operational Risk Events
- Lead/Participate in Control Assessment/Testing, partner with the BCS teams to identify, assess and manage operational risks/control deficiencies
- Monitor outstanding issues & actions (Operational Risk, Compliance and Audit) to ensure timely resolution
- Lead/Participate in quarterly Risk Meetings with the BCS functional teams
- Prepare the Canadian BCS Risk Report and other custom/ ad hoc reporting
- Monitor adherence to internal policies requirements e.g. Standing Order exceptions and resolution
- Manage the canadian Risk & Control sharepoint , shared folders and informational content
- Communicate/train BCS teams on new/changes to internal policies/requirements (as required)
- Support the Manager in change management initiatives, standardization, simplification and automation related to assigned work streams such as Control Inventory/Coverage and CM/Enterprise alignment
- Support the Manager in providing cross regional, holistic pillar and functional coverage for specific assigned pillars such as Funding & Liquidity, Client Data Management *, GLA & Agency
- Support the Manager and BCS Senior Management in driving strategy for Risk & Control Governance
- Contribute to and participate in the Global team’s change management Working Group initiatives eg standardization, simplification and automation
What you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- 2-3 years’ experience in Capital Markets Broker / Dealer Operations
- Ability to collaborate with team members to review businesses, products and functional areas to identify key risks and synergy opportunities
- Strong time management, organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Medium to High proficiency level across Microsoft suite of products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
- Ability to work independently and is results and execution focused orientation with strong analytical and logical problem solving skills
Nice-to-Have:
- Risk/Control and/or Back Office experience within a Bank or Broker Dealer environment
- Data Analytic skills/experience
- Audit experience, Operational risk/control experiences
