The Professional Development Team builds the capability of our people at Oranga Tamariki to help them be successful. 

We have a broad capability development focus that includes:

  • Role specific induction training
  • Technical and job specific training (e.g. role-based skill development) 
  • Regionalized capability support for our front line teams and leaders  
  • Professional registration and learning requirements management 

We are a supportive team based across the country who pride ourselves on innovation, providing excellent customer service and building a constructive learning culture. 

You will be working within a collaborative and creative team with other skilled professionals to support the delivery our online learning.

An exciting opportunity exists for the LMS Specialist to take a leading role within our team to contribute to the design and development our Totara LMS for our current and future needs.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Providing guidance to improve the system to meet organisational and individual need
  • Working with vendors and suppliers to coordinate system updates 
  • Managing implementation of system updates and new functionality additions
  • Assisting? Assisting or leading in the deployment, coordination, recording and reporting of learning and development activities using the Ministry's learning management system (LMS) to publish content, prepare reports, provide analysis on training completion and evaluation 
  • Advising and supporting others to use the LMS effectively
  • Review and maintain training materials, systems and other tools and technologies
  • Supporting our content maintenance programme across learning products
  • Providing general administration support to the wider Professional Development and Organisational Development teams work programmes, coordinating team communications, meetings and training events 
     

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What will you bring

  • High level administrator/technical experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required, expert knowledge of Totara Learn LMS is required. (Ideally Totara Learn version 12)
  • Able to configure learning systems to meet user requirements and liaise closely with HR systems team and vendor 
  • Experience with LMS upgrades and plugin implementation
  • Experience with systems troubleshooting and customer support 
  • Familiarity with Windows 10 OS, Microsoft 360, Edge, Exchange OneNote and SharePoint, . 
  • Strong excel skills and a working knowledge of other software applications and database systems
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise work requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with staff at all levels 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
