Your typical day will be spent providing antenatal and postnatal care to the wāhine of the Buller region and you will be present at homebirths or births in our primary birthing unit at Kawatiri, Buller Hospital and the facilities when the new Buller Hospital and Health Centre is built.

Outside of work, you will have access to some of the Aotearoa s best kept scenic secrets, with the Buller especially popular for tramping, rafting, canoeing and many other outdoor pursuits. As well as low cost housing, daily flights from Westport to Wellington and Queenstown.

Although you will be based in the community, you will be provided with access to education, training and support from the team at Te Nikau and collegially supported by your central and southern colleagues providing LMC care.

Working here you will be eligible to access some great benefits:

  • Will be provided with a current caseload
  •  A sustainability package per woman under your care
  • All women qualify for remote rural mileage
  • Eligible for support via the NZ College of Midwives Rural Midwifery Recruitment and  Retention Service (RMRRS) including nine days Locum cover per year and extra locum days paid by WCDHB.

About you:

  • NZ Midwifery Registration and a current practicing certificate
  • A new Graduate Midwife will be considered.
  • Be vaccinated for COVID-19 under the Governments Mandate
