We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Linehaul Logistics Coordinator to join our Train Build team at our contemporary Parnell office, which will be moving to Ellerslie as of August 2022.

KiwiRail is one of New Zealand's most significant freight movers. We move over a third of our export goods across the country, using a wide range of services from temperature controlled, to containerised and bulk loads. This is a great opportunity if you are passionate about joining the exciting and complex world of Rail. As part of the Train Build team, you will be fully trained into the fast paced and busy role of coordinating and monitoring mainline freight trains and shunts running within the system, auditing system information and reporting any change in train make up within the relevant computer system.

Your key accountabilities will be:

• Building of mainline shunts, out-bound freight trains and passenger trains
• Accurate data entry
• Seeking and providing operational information to field staff in a timely and effective manner
• Liaise with stakeholders such as the Customer Logistics team, yard staff and Locomotive Engineers
• Commitment to KiwiRail's Zero Harm strategy

This role is part of a high performing team that thrives on results and achieves this through continuity of knowledge within a diverse and vibrant working environment that is led by a very flexible and supportive Manager.

This role works on a 24/7 rotating roster, meaning that you will need to have the ability to work nights, weekend shifts and public holidays as required. Flexibility is your key to success!

• Proven work experience in assessing customer's needs and planning
• (Logistics, Shipping or Transport is preferred but not essential)
• Be a good multi-tasker and work well in a busy environment
• Enjoy analysing and interpreting information to solve problems with an eye for detail
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to a truly collaborative team culture
• Be comfortable using multiple systems and have a good basic understanding of Microsoft Excel
