Job Description

My client is a family-owned business, which has gone from strength to strength over the past 20 plus years. They are a leading provider in the New Zealand lift solutions market - working with customers in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

The fantastic people who join this company are surprised to find how enthusiastic and passionate about lifts they become. The role is so varied and interesting that no two days are alike. You'll be involved in problem solving, using and learning a diverse set of skills, and because of the physical nature of the work you can give away your gym membership if you want to!

Here's an excellent opportunity to get into this exciting and fast-paced industry. This role is Auckland based, but there will be regular travel throughout New Zealand, so you'll need to have the flexibility to travel within our wonderful country.

About the role:

  • Pre-install visits to building sites
  • Installation of a wide variety of vertical transportation (lift) equipment.
  • Servicing, and repairs and maintenance
  • Design and fabricate components (welding, machining, sheetmetal etc) for lift modernisation and customisation.
  • Remedying defects or faults.
  • Removal of existing equipment.
  • Communication with building contractors.
  • Communicate with Project team and installation team members.
  • Adherence to building and lift codes
  • Adhering to manufacturer specifications and manuals.
  • Being available for on call duties.
  • Review shop drawings and architectural plans

About you:

  • You are physically fit and able, as the role can be demanding.
  • You have plenty of mechanical aptitude and potentially have had experience as a Fitter and Turner, worked in Maintenance and Diagnostics or in a technical solutions environment, or even automotive mechanic skills.
  • Welding and fabrication skills would be advantageous.
  • Ideally, you are familiar with working on building and construction sites and or manufacturing facilities.
  • An Engineering and/or Electrical Qualification would be a benefit, along with some prior knowledge of lifts (although lift experience is not strictly necessary)
  • You are confident using both hand and power tools, and have the ability to measure accurately.
  • You enjoy problem solving and have a high attention to detail.
  • You have a patient and calm demeanor and have a willingness to learn.

Benefits:

Along with a financially stable employer and interesting work, an excellent remuneration package will be offered to our successful candidate.

An attractive hourly wage is on offer. A full use company vehicle is provided, due to the requirement to be on call (one week out of six). Call out rates apply per day, and an after hours call out rate is also paid.
