The role

We’re looking for a legal counsel to join the corporate Legal team of 9 other lawyers (based in Australia and London), at either our headquarters in West Perth or in central Sydney on a permanent, full-time basis. Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing a pipeline of acquisitions, as well as assisting the General Counsel with larger transactions, in Australia and around the world;
• Reviewing and negotiating complex government contracts and tenders on behalf of APM;
• Managing disputes and ensuring that legal risks are appropriately managed;
• Dealing with regulatory and compliance issues such as privacy, conflicts of interest, competition law, discrimination, health and safety, employment law and other matters as required;
• Review and drafting of relevant company policies and procedures;
• Development of templates and precedents for the business.

To be considered, you will ideally have:

• Admission to practise in a jurisdiction in Australia or the Commonwealth;
• Experience working on mergers and acquisitions, either in house or in a law firm’s corporate and commercial team;
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office;
• High level of attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work as part of a team and an ability to prioritise workload based on business need
• A prior secondment or some time spent in house will be advantageous

This role would suit lawyers with between 2 to 6 years post qualification experience (PQE), but we would consider other applicants from outside this range.
