We are looking for a legal advisor who is known for being efficient, proactive, and a self-starter. 

Your main challenges

• Guide stakeholders and share your expertise by sitting on committees or participating in special or major projects
• Identify and assess the needs of stakeholders, and propose solutions adapted to each file to support activity execution
• Interact with the different sectors of the Bank, managers, and employees to offer them support and specialized advice
• Be a coach to your less experienced colleagues

More specifically, you will:

• Act as an advisor for analyzing files submitted by real estate legal professionals (servitude, partial release, consent to cadastral amendment, declaration of divided co-ownership, and indivision agreement)
• Comment on collateral held by the Bank (title searches)
• Provide expertise to committees and special or large-scale projects with an impact on the development of practices and policies
• Train and support the Operations, Retail Financing teams with respect to legal issues around real estate and collateral
• Communicate with legal professionals mandated by the Bank to analyze files and advise the Bank on taking collateral
• Analyze title reports produced by legal professionals and take a position

Skills required

• Bachelor’s degree in Law and Diploma of Notarial Law and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 3 years of relevant experience OR a university certificate and 7 years of relevant experience
• Member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec
• Bilingualism, spoken and written (English and French)
• Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and excellent command of Word
• Knowledge of the banking environment
