This consultancy is now seeking a graduate structural technician to join their company.

Your new role

The role will be Junior Structural technician. Generally, the role will involve the creation of structural engineering models using Revit, creating plans, sections, elevations, and details and preparing documents for preliminary design, building consent, tender, and construction stages of projects. The modelling and drafting work will involve monitoring and coordination with models/drawings from others, and document preparation for issues. Projects range from small high end residential projects to large commercial or industrial buildings, sculptures and strengthening of existing buildings. The role will involve working closely with engineers and senior drafters within the company, and with external consultants such as Architects and Services Engineers. Additional tasks will involve construction monitoring, simple soil tests, building level surveys and measure-ups; all of which training will be provided for. A basic understanding of Revit is required, although ongoing training will be provided as part of the role. Enthusiasm and motivation to learn are key requirements for the role. Any experience with architectural detailing, structural engineering or building work is beneficial, but not required.

We seek someone that shows a strong attention to detail, has the initiative and ability to look beyond the obvious requirements of a situation and act without prompting, commitment through a belief in their own job or role and its value to the company, is a team member, is self-motivated with the ability to drive themselves to achieve success and organise one’s own workload to meet deadlines and desired outcomes. They will need to have an good attitude towards software and a basic knowledge of geometry would be ideal.

You will have to opportunity to develop your skills using Revit, working on a range of both residential and commercial projects.
