What is the opportunity?
The RBC Team in Halifax will be hiring for multiple Developer and Engineer roles on the Financial Crimes, Finance IT, Risk IT, Fraud and Insurance teams. This role will require you to be located in the Halifax / Nova Scotia region and be able to commute to the office if needed. As a DevOps Engineer you provide support for a suite of business mission-critical and complex applications, understanding both front and back-end of the applications. The technology platform spans the breadth of Windows and Linux platforms, Python / Java environments and MS SQL and Oracle platforms.
What will you do?
Develop automation and infrastructure as code to improve operational consistency and efficiency.
Debug and solve customer escalations from our internal Support team.
Contribute features that make the platform more self-service; improve diagnostics collection and reporting capabilities for the product.
Collaborate in a cross-functional team with leaders from Operations, Product and Security
Work with the Cloud Adoption and Support teams to ensure efficient service delivery and act as an escalation point for incidents
Support implementation of DevOPS practices and tools and review / write code in either Python, Java or shell scripting to support business needs and requirements.
Work with developers to resolve their technical issue working with DevOps pipeline. Primary focus will be on RBC’s in-house developed pipeline portal. You will ask get involved as a secondary technical support on integration with source code and artifact management, build and deploy tools, security scanning and collaboration tools.
Create and documentation code snippets for different languages that being supported by DevOps pipeline to help developers interacting and integrating with the pipeline
Learn new programing languages to be able helping developers using the pipeline
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Passion for debugging complex systems and have an eye for problems that occur at scale.
Curious about how things work and can dig deep into multiple levels of software stack -- networking, OS and application layer.
Experience writing scripts to automate operational tasks (eg. Shell, Ansible, Python).
A passion for making developers more efficient through DevOps, CI/CD, Automation and Infrastructure as Code principles
Strong understanding of at-least one high level programming language (ex. JAVA, Python, Go, etc.)
Ability to solve complex problems, strong data structure and algorithm concepts
Nice-to-have
Experience with SQL environments and SQL Query.
ITIL Framework
Experience with middleware technologies such as MQ, REST API’s
Experience working in an agile environment
Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift Container Platform
Technical documentation experience
