Our high performing Risk and Compliance team are looking for an experienced Internal Auditor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity as we introduce this capability in house for the first time, moving to a co-source arrangement. We are continuing our risk maturity uplift journey embedding the three lines of defence and a robust assurance framework to support WorkSafe to achieve its vision and mission.

As the Internal Auditor you will add value with forward and dynamic thinking, coupled with pragmatic recommendations and advice to strengthen the integrity of WorkSafe's risk and assurance capability and lift risk maturity. You will be responsible for the application of WorkSafe's assurance framework and leading, developing and delivering the risk based internal audit plan with reference to the total assurance framework and activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with the business to increase the visibility and understanding of the role of the third line of assurance by delivering insights and assurance to inform decision-making.
• Leading, developing and undertaking the roadmap (plan and schedule) of third line independent reviews so that these are right sized and at the right time, based on/supported by WorkSafe's key risks and aligned with other assurance activities (total assurance).
• Developing and producing accurate and timely reporting for management and relevant governance committees, including presenting papers as required.
• Providing independent and objective assurance that WorkSafe's Risk Management Framework is robust and operating effectively, oversighting the application, efficacy and performance of the first and second lines.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A minimum of 7 years Risk and Assurance background
• Qualified as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA)
• Operational, Performance and Technology risk and assurance experience
• A strong understanding of current risk-based audit methodologies
• Professional services and/or regulator experience (preferred)
• Experience of NZ public sector – crown entities and/or other agencies
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• First-class verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across and engage diverse stakeholders including senior and executive leadership
